Long-term Care and also the Sandwich Generation

Long-term care may be the 800 pound gorilla within the living room. I learn about it within the line at the grocery store, in the elevator, in the department store, at church and on videos. Everyone my maturity is facing it, also it isn't ours we're facing, today.

I'm of the age bracket called the boomer or sandwich generation. Sandwich meaning we've responsibilities for multiple family members. However, we're not the first to be faced with this phenomenon, when you are boomers, we're possibly the first to attach a reputation to this huge predicament.

Boomers have altered the paradigms with which we address dilemmas in many arenas and I think we'll rewrite our understanding on this one.

Here are some of the problems.

Our wonderful health care system, good food and many modern conveniences have led to a life expectancy which is longer than ever. Therefore during the last of our healthy and productive years, whenever we should be saving that last little bit of money we'll need in the future, or paying off our mortgages, or recuperating from losses in the stock market, traveling or enjoying our grandchildren, many of us have parents who're living, despite the fact that less strong because they were in the past, continue to be healthy. At the same time we've adult children who're building their own futures and families and need a little help occasionally.

While reflecting upon the previous generations and just how they took proper care of one another, I came to the realization our ancestors, along with living closer together, had businesses that belongs to them, while most of us today have careers that take us for an office, factory, hospital or school building. Our grandparents were active participants in the free enterprise system owning farms, stores, ranches, or some other kind of business. The reason a lot of us are experiencing trouble, is that we do not own our own businesses. Very few jobs offer flexibility of your time and put to permit involvement in multigenerational obligations and privileges.

That's the reason I began searching for a career that would permit me to operate around my Type A personality requires and doing this around the needs of a multigenerational family.

What so long as chance to me?

It was the web and having an online business. Having an internet business gives flexibility of both some time and space to be involved in the lives of a 92-year-old or perhaps a 6-year-old and each age in-between.

Building your own business advertising online will grant you to be in which you have to be when you need to be there along with being able to support yourself while doing so. Whatever product you are selling, working on-line opens many avenues of flexibility to you.
