Has technology altered what constitutes a prodigy? This is a truly fascinating question. Child prodigies have historically arisen in two primary areas: mathematics and music. Math by lone prodigies is still primarily done by writing on papers and blackboards, and technology has not changed this much. Music however has undergone massive and sweeping change. A classical music prodigy who plays the cello or piano is still fairly easy to discern, but what about a prodigy who plays modern music which utilizes synthesizers and even computers? Do prodigies exist in these more modern music forms? To answer this question, classical music authorities were interviewed, as well as professors at leading music production schools.

As one might suspect, classic music authorities did not enthusiastically endorse the notion of pop music prodigies. One rather cheekily suggested that we build a time machine so that Eminem and Mozart could collaborate. We responded by asking the expert-who is quite famous-to pick one rapper who is a prodigy. He once responded rather cheekily, pronouncing the verdict that rap isn't music and that few rappers should be considered musicians.

Faculty at music productions schools had a more favorable view of modern music, which was also unsurprising. These individuals said that synthesizers and computers were instruments just as much as a piano or cello. Classical music professors were disdainful of this notion. They argued that the violin, cello, piano and other instruments are less transient, and not mere fads as computer and synthesizer music may prove to be. Some expressed the view that in a few centuries pop music may have vanished, while violins and cellos will have endured.

One staunch critic of the notion of rap "music" had us try to envision some concert in 400 years at which Eminem is played. The wealthiest and most educated members of the societal elite will assemble, and the greatest musicians of the age will play Eminem's guttural beats with violins, cellos, oboes, and flutes. One of the civilizations greatest singers will clear there throat and then sing, Two trailer park girls go round the outside, round the outside. . .

Members of the elite assembled in the audience would offer dainty claps. Bravo, Sir. Bravo indeed my good man. I do say, well done. Indubitably. During the intermission, before they return to hear a 60 piece orchestra play "Fuck the Police," a song by that renowned band of prodigies "Nigger With Attitudes," the elite will surely consult academics also present. The prodigy Eminem is so brilliant that his lyrics defy comprehension. Whatever did he mean by two trailer park girls go round the outside? Historians who are honest will admit that extant historical records provide no answer, and the meaning of the lyrics is yet another one of those unsolvable mysteries of ancient history.

The future civilization might ask themselves how depraved a culture must be to consider such lowbrow music entertainment. A historian in attendance expounds. All late stage empires decay morally as they decline and collapse. This happened to the Roman Empire before it faded into oblivion, and the American Empire before it went the identical route. Romans gorged and vomited at massive orgies, Americans feasted on quickly food and stapled their stomachs and revered Eminems and Niggers with Attitudes.

That is the insight offered by professionals at universities and music productions schools. Take it for what it is really worth. Inside the final analysis, only time can provide conclusive answers.
