Leh is probably the world's most preferred tourist destinations that is found in the northernmost areas of India within the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It's located in the lap of Himalayan ranges in a height of 3,505 meters above sea level. The snow covered fringes of Himalaya's makes this place an intimate destination where tourists can also enjoy serene and scenic great thing about nature combined with the aura of Tibeto-Buddhist culture. The colorful gompas, snow covered mountains and also the backdrop of azure sky makes mtss is a picturesque place which attracts lots of tourists through the globe each year. A few of the well-known attractions of the place are:

Leh Palace:

It's the most captivating attraction of the place that is visited by nearly every tourist. This architectural ruin attracts attention of tourists using its majestic setting at the edge of the Namgyal hill which dominates the city. The architectural style of this palace resembles the Potala in Lhasa. It had been built-in the 17th century because the residential complex for that King Singge Namgyal. This nine-storied architectural splendor is renowned for its Buddhist wall paintings, traditional tangkhas (painted or embroidered scrolls), frescos, murals, Buddhist scriptures along with a massive statue from the Maitreya Buddha (future Buddha). The panoramic and impressive view of Leh in the rooftop of the palace is most captivating attraction of the place.

Sankar Gompa:

This is one of the Gelukspa school of Tibetan Buddhism, a branch from the Spituk Monastery that was founded through the first incarnation of Skyabje Bakula (head monk of Spituk). It's the official residence from the Kushok Bakul Ladakh's head from the Gelug-pa sect. This place is probably the favored attractions of Leh Tourists due to the dramatic location and rich collections. Aside from this it's noted for its paintings and murals from the guardian god from the Four Quarters of Heaven, golden spire along with a 'Dharma Chakra' that is flanked by two deer as symbol from the Buddha's first sermon in Sarnath. Probably the most striking feature of the place is its gompa that is setup on high ceiling hall whose walls are adorned with lustrous multi-colored murals.

Stok Palace Museum:

This is actually the other favorite place of this region that is located about 14 kilometers from Leh over the Choglamsar Bridge. It's the palace museum of Royal family that is noted for its huge and rich assortment of arts, ornaments of royal family, traditional clothes of kings and queen, royal crowns, copper coins, precious heirlooms, prayer instruments and much more. Among these the portion of precious stones and jewellery collection are most fascinating and captivating thing about this place.

A few of the other well-known destinations of the place are Pangong Tso, Shanti Stupa, Karma Dupgyud Choelin and much more.
