Be A Part Of History With The National History Day

National History Day is one of a kind of nationwide academic competition which focuses on pupils, especially within the grades of 6 to 12 and provides them a chance to be informed on history. All of it started as a small competition in 1974 in Cleveland. The primary idea of National History Day was developed by all the people in the dept of history at Case Western Reserve University to match the very thought of Science Fair.

During the coming years, National History Day spread to other locations like Midwestern states and by 1980, it has developed into a national organization. It was in 1992, that this competition shifted its headquarters from Cleveland to Washington,D.C .

The National History Day California is definitely an educational program that continues on for one year and motivates students to get acquainted with history on all of the levels- local, state, national as well as the world. Students participating in National History Day California are actually asked to take up a historical topic which will connect together with the annual concept of the program and for this; students have to do lots of research work employing libraries, museums, archives and through performing several oral history interviews. Pupils then needed to access their study to arrive at findings and hence, produce the final project on the respective topic. These completed projects are then subjected to enter a few competition, from local to the national level in the history day program. A team of specialist educators and historians conduct these projects completed by students.

Financed by Orange County Department of Education, National History Day California is maybe, one of the biggest of all the History Day programs and contests that cover 34 countries and some 44,000 students each year. Thus, a yearly state wise competition is occurring with some 1000 participants.
